In the heart of Sochi, Russia, where the snow-capped Caucasus Mountains meet the Black Sea, the World Youth Festival 2024 unfolded as a beacon of global unity, progress, and friendship. As a delegate from Nepal, my journey to this extraordinary event was not just about attending sessions but also a testament to the power of preparation, collaboration, and the spirit of youth activism.
Preparation in Nepal
The journey began long before the departure date, with meticulous planning and organization. In Nepal, we formed the National Preparatory Committee, comprising six progressive youth fronts under my chairmanship. This collaborative effort aimed to select excellent delegates who could represent our nation with pride and contribute meaningfully to the festival’s objectives. On the 27th 28th, and 29th of February, we embarked on our journey from Nepal, adorned with the spirit of unity symbolized by our attire a shirt adorned with the majestic silhouette of Mount Everest. Little did we know that what awaited us in Sochi would far surpass our expectations.
The Sochi Experience
Arriving in Sochi, we were greeted by an atmosphere of warmth and hospitality that transcended cultural boundaries. The peaceful ambiance of the country embraced us, setting the stage for six days of intense yet enriching programs. One of the most striking aspects of our experience was witnessing the remarkable progress that Russia has achieved in technology, science, and leadership.
The sessions we participated in showcased groundbreaking advancements and innovative solutions to global challenges, leaving an indelible mark on our perspective. The volunteers, with their unwavering friendliness and assistance, ensured that every delegate felt welcomed and included. Their dedication to facilitating a seamless experience for all attendees fostered a sense of camaraderie and belonging that extended beyond the festival grounds.
Closing Ceremony
The closing ceremony of the festival culminated in a momentous address by President Putin, which left an indelible mark on all attendees. As he took the stage, President Putin’s demeanor exuded grace and authority, setting the tone for an unforgettable speech. What truly stood out was his adeptness in addressing a myriad of questions from diverse countries, each representing unique perspectives and concerns. With remarkable poise and eloquence, President Putin navigated through the complexities, striking a harmonious balance that resonated with all. His unwavering
commitment to impartiality and inclusivity was evident, as he addressed each query with equal importance and respect. Witnessing the President of Russia in action was a golden opportunity, and his unparalleled sense of balance and fairness left a lasting impression on all fortunate enough to be present. It was a moment of high quality, where the world witnessed leadership at its finest, exemplifying the virtues of diplomacy, understanding, and global cooperation.
Regional Program in Krasnoyarsk
The regional program encompassing my journey from Sochi to Moscow, followed by a three-day stay in the bustling capital, and culminating in participation as an international expert in the Krasnoyarsk region, was a transformative experience. The ३६-hour train journey from Sochi to Moscow provided ample time for reflection amidst the picturesque Russian landscape. In Moscow, the vibrant cityscape, rich history, and iconic landmarks offered a glimpse into the cultural tapestry of the nation.
However, it was the regional program in the Krasnoyarsk region that left the most profound impact. As an international expert, meeting with the Federal Election Commissioner and
observing the electoral process firsthand highlighted Russia’s commitment to democratic principles and electoral transparency. The experience was indeed a life-learned one, reaffirming the importance of civic participation and accountability in fostering peace and prosperity. Congratulations to President Putin on his re-election, and may his leadership continue to steer Russia toward a future marked by peace and progress.
Building Connections and Collaboration
The World Youth Festival 2024 provided a platform for forging long-lasting connections and networks that transcend borders. Engaging with fellow youth from diverse backgrounds, we exchanged ideas, experiences, and aspirations, laying the groundwork for future collaborations and initiatives. The meticulously arranged sessions were not only excellent in content but also conducive to meaningful discussions and interactions. From panel discussions to workshops, each session offered valuable insights and perspectives that broadened our horizons and inspired us to
drive positive change in our communities.
Looking Towards the Future
As the festival drew to a close, the highlight was undoubtedly the opportunity to hear from President Putin himself. His address to the global youth community was nothing short of aweinspiring, characterized by his unwavering commitment to inclusivity, fairness, and international cooperation. I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to be part of such a transformative event. The lessons learned, connections made, and inspiration gained will continue to guide my journey as a youth activist. I eagerly anticipate the chance to participate in future editions of the festival
and contribute to collaborative efforts that transcend borders and create a better world for generations to come. Every country can indeed learn from Russia, not just in terms of technological advancements but also in fostering a spirit of unity, inclusivity, and global cooperation. As I return to Nepal, I carry with me memories and experiences that serve as a reminder of the immense potential of youth to drive positive change on a global scale. Thank you, World Youth Festival 2024, for an unforgettable journey towards a brighter future.
